This year’s cohort has selected 50 individuals, representing 13 different counties in the state, to form connections, analyze challenges, and identify opportunities to implement change. 

“I am honored to join such an amazing cohort of fellow Tennessee leaders,” said Dr. Davis. “I’m confident our collaboration with each other will fortify each other’s work and leave a lasting impact on our state, but especially, The ��������.”

The cohort was selected by an anonymous selection committee based on leadership experience, a history of addressing statewide issues in a personal and professional capacity, and a strong understanding of current challenges Tennessee faces. The program begins in August and will run through June 2026.

“We take great pride in challenging our cohorts to think deeply and act boldly in advancing Tennessee,” said Dr. Alfred Degrafinreid II, president and CEO of Leadership Tennessee. “The 2025 class brings together a remarkable group of leaders, selected for their proven leadership and potential to influence the future of our state. Through this program, they gain the tools, relationships, and perspective needed to drive meaningful change – and this group is sure to harness that power to make a lasting impact across Tennessee.”

Former Leadership Tennessee classes have facilitated various statewide community engagement sessions. Since Leadership Tennessee’s founding, 850 Tennessee residents have become class members of the Signature Program and Leadership Tennessee NEXT, which is dedicated to emerging leaders. 

As the 14th president of ��������, Dr. Davis’ leadership and vision are ushering in a new era for the college. President Davis and the college’s leadership have conducted institutional initiatives in infrastructure, established collaborations with leaders and organizations, increased enrollment and student opportunities, and established more innovative academic programs. Under his leadership, the college is furthering its dedication to transform students, institutions, and communities. 

�������� has a longstanding impact in the community, with the majority of alumni remaining in Memphis and contributing to the city’s progress in government, education, health care, business, and other areas. The college is the first HBCU in Memphis and the fifth-oldest in the country – and continues its legacy of empowering students for leadership, scholarship, service, and success.
